For some reason, i vibe with David (outside the "narcissistic" and "sociopathic" traits) in that i aint thinking about what i did or say to you years ago. Like, my bad, but move on and get a therapist or something.

This is what sacrifice looks like. Carmy put everything into being the absolute best possible chef he could be, and said fuck it to anything else that got in his way. He wanted to have his cake here and eat it to with his confrontation. Doesn't work that way, because what Chef David said is right, he's still an asshole, but he's right. It's a very "Whiplash" approach to "I'll beat you down emotionally and test your absolute limits, and if you make it through, you'll be the best". And that's what he became. I don't agree with it, but it works.

This would have been my dad and I. Years of psychological and emotional abuse crushed me, yet he thought he was my savior and I should be grateful. The greatest answer to a prayer was the night I forgave him. I never told him. But I set down my anger and resentment. In his later years, we actually had a loving relationship. I'll never forget the trauma, but I'll never carry it again either. He was raised like that and thought he was raising me to withstand and rise above. But my success was mine. My soaring was mine. Despite of it... not with his help. This scene is triggering because it's what would have happened if I never set it down and if we actually voiced everything that was never verbalized. Maybe this is why I found the Bear so hard to watch and Carmy so tough to like. I hated myself that I lived with the weight of the past and couldn't crawl out from the under the burden of my anger and hatred. After the prayer was answered, I began my flight.

This guy would make a great Mr Jefferson in a life is strange show.

Most comments are missing the point imo. You want to be great it has a cost. It's not for everyone, but if you want it, you have to be willing to give everything to the fire. Carmy wanted to be great but he didn't know the cost until it was already paid...

I don't agree with his methods because people can bring out the best in others by being nice and supportive thather than acting like a tyrant towards people 😢

This is why you don't hold grudges against people like this. They don't care. Leave them to the Universe and carry on with your life.

It's hard to make a narcissistic personality care about anyone else's feelings. I would never let someone like that know I think about them at all. I would have sit there with my friends laughing and pointing at him every once in a while.

My biggest revenge was leaving my last high caliber high end restaurant that I used to worked at. The chef there was an asshole and my mental health plummeted. Went back on SSRIs to deal with the anxiety, depression, and the trauma. They're struggling at the moment without me and I regret nothing. Now in College striving towards something that I genuinely want to become.

didnt finish the last few episodes but saw this pop up and thought worth a watch. Season 3 is one of the biggest nose dives in a show I've seen in awhile! I wanted to turn off every episode up tot the 7 or 8 I saw and fast forwarded a few when it became obvious the dragged out scenes weren't actually leading to anything

I saw this seen and it absolutely broke me. When i was in highschool i did really well all AP, 4.2 GPA, scholarships the whole nine yards. My relationship with my father and stepmom got really bad and toxic but I knew i was gonna go to college and make something for myself even with them trying to sabotage me at every step. The last grand evilness was kicking me out at the beginning of my senior year. I had to go full time at my job to support myself and get my own apartment. I started slipping in school because i couldnt do the massive at home projects that come with being in AP. I saw my guidance counselor and begged him to switch me to CP so i could pass my last yeae. He told me he wouldnt because based on my previous years he thought i could "overcome" and if i tried "really really hard" id pass. Offered absolutely no support. I failed almost every class and my GPA dropped to a 2.8. i was so messed up by losing everything I earned that i gave up and got my GED. I've thought about this man everyday since until one day years later he was in front of me waiting on me to make a sandwich for him at a deli. I asked if he knew me and he said "no" got his sandwich and left. I now and always will only try to be a positive influence to anyone i meet no matter how small the interaction is.

That Otis Redding was a nice touch. Thats the type of music that plays in black households during family confrontations 😂

Carmy wanted confrontation from all the abuse so bad but only to realize he traded all of that abuse in exchange for being great. Ateast chef David acknowledged that he became great ecen though he didnt act like it.

Honestly, after watching the third season, Carm did not deserve any satisfaction. Only, realization. Carm blamed him for his trauma, but without Winger, he would not be where he is. The entire third season, Carm has little to no growth. Hes irresponsible with money, hes working his crew to the bone, and he does nothing to work on getting his ex back(to be fair he does not deserve). He desperately needs to get over himself.

I had no idea Jamie Lee could do THAT. Just a remarkable performance by both of them - the way they fed off each other's emotions. Wow.

Its almost like seeing Nieman from Whiplash confronting fletcher after the end and he welcomes him for turning him into a complete disaster

I like the use of closeups otherwise he looks like a horse jockey bossing everyone around

The worst part about this is that the bullied achieved what they needed to, to their very soul, and it was done as a blip on the radar of the bully. Results don’t necessarily mean progress, only that the ego can fuel tragedy.

Man the guy is in the wrong for how he treats his staff but what he said is actually really reliable advice in todays world, your boss will notice your passion/work ethic but doesn’t mean he will take it easy he will make it hard so you can over come what others think they can’t do! And that’s leadership/determination is and love how he’s still learning about it
